What is the shape of your SHIP?
While more commonly understood as a vessel, “ship” originates in old English meaning “shape,” and when used as a suffix
(like Leader-ship) denotes quality, skill, and action.
As a foundation, our SHIP was built to be the developmental infrastructure that empowers leaders to overcome challenges by continuously self-examining and experimentally refining the navigation tools of their personal ‘ship.’ How we lead our lives individually shapes our society collectively because as social actors, we all influence and are influenced by the behaviors, values, and norms of those around us. At SHIP, we shape leaders towards greater authenticity and passionate purpose-driven lives that meaningfully impact communities at scale.

Identity-based Leader Development
Embarking on a new journey of development for global citizens begins with an authentic self-inventory of our learned behaviors, unconscious operations, and the ways in which we interact with the world around us. Ibarra et. al., (2010) explored an identity-based model of leader development. The researchers suggest that supporting people to move through “identity transitions” enables people to let go of old identities that will keep them from changing or moving towards new opportunities with potential and possible selves. In our framework, we work to co-create your experience as you define the outcomes, measures, and metrics for your growth. Personal and professional development is shaped through the balance of assessment, challenge, and support. You build your leader identity by intentionally capturing your growth and the impact your work has on others.
